Pre Brexit Positioning Paper for HMRC
December 20, 2016
UKWA has taken advantage of its long involvement with the HMRC’s Joint Customs Consultative Committee (JCCC) to present a pre-Brexit positioning paper on behalf of the logistics industry for HMRC.
The paper lays out clear concerns and requirements, calling for positive action to ensure those operating in import and export markets in the UK are fully protected from the potential impact of leaving the EU.
According to CEO Peter Ward, Brexit presents significant risks for UKWA members but also there are significant opportunities for simplifications on import procedures and the opening of new markets for export.
“UKWA would like to engage with those in HMRC and other areas of government who are responsible for the planning of our future customs environment as it is our members and the trading community who will define the success of Brexit for the UK,” he said.
