Once again, UKWA is proud to have been a sponsor for Transaid’s Annual Showcase, which celebrated the roll-out of its MamAz Against Malaria programme to cover nearly 80% of districts across Zambia. UKWA has been a staunch supporter of this important project over a number of years, and is delighted to have been part of the journey so far. The event was attended by Transaid’s patron, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, who was introduced to UKWA’s Head of Membership Lisa Schulze and Head of Events & Marketing, Lucy Hemmings.
Her Excellency The Deputy High Commissioner to the Republic of Zambia was also in attendance, along with more than 100 corporate supporters, partners and friends of the charity. The showcase was held at The Africa Centre in London, with main sponsor and founding partner Michelin. Commenting on the occasion, UKWA CEO Clare Bottle said, “We are committed to supporting Transaid’s vital work combatting Malaria in sub-Saharan Africa, where this deadly but preventable disease remains a major public health issue, accounting for the majority of global cases and deaths.
For the future, we look forward to continued involvement with Transaid on their forthcoming projects, namely supporting women in South Africa working in the minibus taxi by helping to reduce gender-based violence, and assisting long distance truck drivers in Kenya with improved access to healthcare.”
