UKWA bids farewell to two great friends

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of two great friends of UKWA.

Steve Gaugler, a director of Henry Diaper & Co Ltd in Liverpool, died suddenly on 28th December aged 55. He leaves a daughter Stephanie (29), son James (27) and girlfriend Karen.

Steve was a great supporter of UKWA over many years and until recently was North West Regional Chairman of the association. An avid Liverpool FC fan and golfer, Steve played 5 a side football each week and ran 3 miles every morning.

He attended the UKWA Christmas Dinner at The Oriental Club on 16th December and was his usual lively and entertaining self. His loss is a huge shock and on behalf of the membership, the UKWA board offers sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at Henry Diaper.

The funeral service for Steve will be on 13th January 2017 in Liverpool, details to be confirmed

Maurice Dawson, passed away on 12th Dec following a battle with cancer, aged 75. Maurice was formerly Managing Director and more recently Chairman of the family business A V Dawson, who are long standing and valued members of UKWA

Maurice’s son Gary Dawson, who took on the role of Managing Director from his father, has paid tribute to a man he described as a “big character” and a “mentor to many”, who despite leaving school at 15, contributed  hugely to the continued success of the business and was awarded an honorary degree from Teesside University last year.

The board of the UKWA extends deepest sympathies on behalf of the membership to Maurice’s family, friends and the workforce at AV Dawson, where he will be sadly missed.

The memorial service and celebration of Maurice's life will take place on 04th Feb at Wynyard. All are invited.
