Farrall’s invests £3.5m in second Deeside warehouse

Farrall’s Transport, the Cheshire based logistics service provider, has invested £3.5 million expanding its warehousing capacity with a further 81,000 square feet food grade facility at Deeside Industrial Estate, Deeside. The new warehouse, which will be ready for business in early January 2015, complements the company’s existing 80,000 square feet distribution centre on the same industrial park.

Buchanan joins Pall-Ex

Following a review of the Pall-Ex management structure, CEO Hilary Devey has appointed former Palletline MD Kevin Buchanan to the role of group managing director at Pall-Ex with effect from the 24 November 2014. The changes will see former group MD Adrian Russell moving to a new role on the Group board as deputy chairman.

New RTITB app

Workplace transport training accrediting body, RTITB, has released a brand new app for the iPhone. The free app, exclusively designed for employers in transport, warehousing and logistics, allows users to access industry news, advice and training information while on the move.

Fraikin grows fleet management with Sainsbury’s

Commercial vehicle expert Fraikin has signed a two-year contract with Sainsbury’s to fleet manage all of the supermarket’s home delivery assets in southern England “ accounting for more than 50% of its 3.5 tonne fleet.

Berrow joins Translift Bendi Board

Articulated forklift truck manufacturer Translift Bendi has appointed Paul Berrow to its board of directors. Berrow has over 20 years experience in the forklift industry with Finning, DAC Plant and Jungheinrich before joining Bendi in 2002 as area sales manager. He was promoted to joint sales director in 2012.

Yusen extends relationship with Ford

Yusen Logistics has extended its long term working relationship with Ford of Europe’s Material Planning and Logistics (MP&L) function by securing a major contract for multiple-geography less-than-truck-load collections in Central Europe.

Nene gives Tesco new legs

Nene Storage Equipment has successfully partnered multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer, Tesco PLC, to develop an innovative new solution to repair damaged racking with minimal disruption. The new concept encompasses an enhanced, impact-tested sacrificial leg together with a specially developed machine that can support racking loads of over 20 tons whilst the leg is being changed.

Flexi appointment

Flexi Narrow Aisle, the manufacturer of Flexi space saving materials handling solutions, has announced an addition to its warehouse systems development team. Pete Dunn has joined the company as business development manager based in the Midlands.

Pyroban opens new UK factory

Developer of explosion protection technology Pyroban has opened a new factory in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex to increase capacity and meet constantly growing sales opportunities. The new factory, named ‘Unit 23’, is a highly modernised fabrication, machining and painting centre, situated in a 1680 square metres facility and represents the highest single manufacturing investment in Pyroban’s 40 year history. The unit is in addition to its existing plant at ‘Endeavour Works’, also on Dolphin Road in Shoreham.
