For the second year running, Unipart Logistics has achieved a double accolade, by winning top ratings for its Health and Safety performance and for its Environmental Management excellence in 2013.

Six sites have all received the prestigious Sword of Honour award from the British Safety Council, the pinnacle of achievement in world class health and safety management. They are:

  • · the Repair, Logistics and Recycling Centre at Nuneaton in the Midlands,
  • · the Repair, Returns and Field Services Centre at Baginton in Coventry
  • · the E-Fulfilment, Distribution and Returns Centre at Magna Park in Leicestershire
  • · the Distribution Centre at Honeybourne in Worcestershire
  • · the Global Distribution Centre at Baginton in Coventry
  • · the Oxford Distribution Centre

In addition, the Oxford Distribution Centre was one of only seven organisations worldwide to achieve the double award for excellence in winning both the Sword of Honour and the Globe of Honour. The Globe of Honour award scheme was launched in 2010 to recognise exemplary environmental management. The winners have to complete the British Safety Council’s five star environmental audit before demonstrating that they go beyond compliance and strive for best practice in all areas of environmental management.

Lynda Armstrong OBE, Chair of the Trustees of the British Safety Council, warmly congratulated Unipart Logistics for its impressive achievement in winning six Swords of Honour and a Globe of Honour.

Lynda said, “These six Sword of Honour awards plus a Globe of Honour award given to one company is unprecedented, and reflects the dedication and commitment of the entire Unipart Logistics’ workforce – from the shop floor to the boardroom – in keeping their workplaces healthy and safe, and in protecting the environment. The British Safety Council praises Unipart Logistics’ commitment to, and achievements in, the sphere of social responsibility. We look forward to working with the company in the future to help publicise the benefits their exemplary approach to the management of health, safety and the environment has brought to their workforce, their business and the wider community.”

Commenting on the awards, Frank Burns, Managing Director of Unipart Logistics said; “The Sword of Honour award demonstrates Unipart Logistics’ deep commitment to the highest standards of health and safety, and shows both our existing and potential clients that we are dedicated to maintaining world class operations, that ensure the safety of our people.

“I am immensely proud of my colleagues in Unipart Logistics who have achieved this incredible result. There is nothing more important to me than having such highly engaged colleagues delivering record breaking performances in all areas including health, safety and environment. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the employees at Nuneaton, Magna Park, Honeybourne, Baginton and Oxford for ensuring health and safety has the highest priority. This is a fantastic achievement; this year the total number of organisations achieving this stringent standard has fallen, so for six of our sites to achieve global recognition out of only 68, marks our people out as amongst the best in the world for health and safety practices and are awards of which we should be very proud.

“To also achieve an exemplary standard of environmental management at our Oxford site demonstrates Unipart’s ongoing commitment and passion for environmental management.”
