Torque Supports Candlelighters Charity

January 10, 2013

Leading logistics company, Torque, recently responded to an appeal by the Candlelighters organisation and purchased a specialist 3D Sensory Pain Distraction System for the children’s cancer unit at Leeds Hospital.

In response to the donation from Torque, Jo Shepheard, Operations Manager, Candlelighters said:

I want to say a huge thank you to Torque for this amazing donation.   Since the 3D distraction therapy machine was delivered to the ward, it has been enjoyed by everyone.  All our children (and some parents too!) have been busy watching and playing the selection of games whilst waiting for treatments. The staff have been really impressed by how much of a difference it has made to our children’s experience in clinic.  So, thank you so much to everyone at Torque, for making time at the hospital a bit more fun!

The 3D distraction therapy machine is used on treatment beds within the hospital ward and the clinic area and really helps the children whilst they undergo serious treatment.

Candlelighters is a great charity and so important for the needs of a number of very poorly young children and their families and we are so pleased that we have been able to do something that has helped make a difference.  This charity means a lot to everyone here and our team are now coming up with ideas on how we can support the charity further through 2013.
