Overspending on energy

Warehouses are overspending around £190 million on energy a year, according to research from the Energy Efficiency Financing (EEF) scheme. Based on official sources and EEF data, the study examined a group of sectors to calculate the amount different industries were overpaying on their energy bills. Our analysis has shown that there is a huge market potential for energy savings from business investment in energy-efficient equipment, amounting to over £3.7 billion per year across the country, and more than £190 million in warehouses alone, said Darren Riva, head of green financing of the EEF scheme. The scheme offers business finance for the acquisition of energy efficient equipment, and often highlights the problems companies have raising finance for energy efficient investment in today’s economic climate.
