Minister for Employment to speak at UKWA National Conference

January 27, 2022

Mims Davies MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Employment at The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), will be amongst a distinguished line up of speakers at this year’s UKWA National Conference on 8-9th March.

Others speaking on the theme of ‘Building Tomorrow’s Workforce Today’, include Alex Farkas, a Senior National Account Manager with the National Employer and Partnership Team (NEPT), DWP, Jobcentre Plus, who takes the lead in NEPT supporting the logistics sector. Alex is joined by speakers and panelists from Think Logistics, Talent in Logistics, Tempus Novo, Nestlé, Reckitt and many others, to address the top cited concern for businesses in 2022 – skills, training and the critical labour shortage.

UKWA CEO Clare Bottle comments, “Since our last conference in March 2020, we have witnessed unprecedented change, driven by a global pandemic, months of lockdown and the hyper acceleration of e-commerce.

Warehousing is growing, our role in the supply chain is evolving rapidly and people will be key to success. We need more and differently skilled workers to meet the new demands of our customers in an increasingly digital and automated landscape. At this year’s conference, we will be looking at new strategies and sharing fresh solutions to meet that challenge.

With high profile speakers, networking sessions and expert panelists from 3PLs to multinational FMCG companies, a global real estate services provider and leading technology specialists, we can definitely look forward to a lively and informative two days!”

Keynote speakers are Eleanor Winton and Chris Southwell. Eleanor, founder of Foresightfully consultancy, works with organisations all over the world, from local charities to global giants. Her recently published book The Disruption Game Plan, provides a framework for leaders to think and act differently in the face of a disrupted future.

Chris Southworth, Director of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is a regular voice for business in the international media. He is also Director of the Secretariat for the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Trade and Export Promotion.
