Immigration crisis in prospect say Logistics Users

October 30, 2017

At the first Round Table meeting of the newly formed UKWA Logistics Users group, major retailers including Debenhams, John Lewis Partnership and Claire’s Accessories joined fellow members from the 3PL community to share views on key issues affecting the industry, including the potential immigration crisis post Brexit.

In a frank discussion, all declared high dependence on migrant labour, particularly in peak season and shared the view that Government’s Post-Brexit immigration policy was potentially disastrous for the industry.

UKWA is uniquely positioned to speak out as the leading logistics trade association, ensuring the united voices of all sectors are heard, says CEO Peter Ward.

“In establishing the Logistics Users group, UKWA has provided an independent forum and a platform for communicating an industry-wide view to Government, which ultimately is incredibly powerful.”
