Logistics Industry Pulls Together in Response to Iran Conflict

At the UKWA, we pride ourselves on being the voice of the UK’s warehousing industry. We are an important sector in our own right, but we are also part of something much bigger: the supply chains which move goods across the world, ensuring that business and households have what they need.  

So when we see yet another major disruption to international trade, affecting both global fuel supplies and freight, it’s right that we work with other logistics trade associations to gather views from businesses and present the full picture to the UK Government. 

That is what we have done as part of Alliance of Logistics Trade Associations (ALTA), which includes the British International Freight Association, the  Road Haulage Association, Logistics UK, and representatives from other transport modes.  

As a group, and individually, we are in direct contact with the Government over its approach to fuel supply resilience in light of the situation in the Middle East. The Government is reassuring industry the UK benefits from strong and diverse security of fuel supplies, that it is monitoring stocks and sales closely and that production and imports are continuing across the UK as normal.  

We will maintain contact with government as the situation develops – if you have any information you would like to share about the impact of the conflict, we can pass it on to the relevant government departments, who would find it valuable.  

We will also continue to work with Alta on the Government’s response to the conflict, and mitigating impacts in the UK.
