Inside Warehousing With Clare Bottle

Uncorking the Secrets of a Career in Logistics

UKWA is proud to present a brand-new podcast series, Inside Warehousing with Clare Bottle — a fresh, informal conversation format that lifts the shutter on the world of warehousing and logistics. Hosted by UKWA CEO Clare Bottle, the series uncovers the diverse pathways into the industry, celebrates individual career journeys, and champions the people whose work behind the scenes keeps the nation moving. In each episode, Clare chats with a special guest from the sector, offering listeners an authentic, behind-the-scenes perspective on what it takes to build a rewarding logistics career.

The series kicks off with Ruth Waring, an influential logistics compliance consultant and founder of Women in Logistics UK. In a conversation that is both candid and compelling, Ruth reflects on her 35-year career — from humble beginnings babysitting and scooping ice cream, to leading major logistics projects across the retail, publishing and automotive sectors.

She shares how her early interest in transport led her to choose logistics over more traditional graduate roles, despite being one of the few women in her field at the time. From managing drivers in a Coventry traffic office to launching a compliance app and supporting industry-wide health and safety initiatives, Ruth’s career is a testament to grit, adaptability, and innovation.

The episode also delves into Ruth’s passion for networking, particularly through the creation of Women in Logistics UK — a pioneering group dedicated to connecting and empowering women in the industry. And, in a forward-looking finale, Ruth shares her thoughts on the transformative potential of AI in logistics, urging the sector to embrace tech as a vital tool for future success.

This is just the beginning. Keep your eyes — and ears — open for the next instalment of Inside Warehousing with Clare Bottle. Who will Clare uncork next?
