The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) has introduced the Depot Charging Scheme, allocating £30 million to provide financial assistance for fleet operators installing electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints at their depots. This initiative is intended to facilitate the transition towards zero-emission fleets.
The Department for Transport will cover up to 75% of eligible capital costs, with a maximum limit of £1 million per organisation. Eligible costs include purchasing charge points of any type or speed, as well as labour and material expenses needed for installing and energising the charge points.
To be eligible, applicants must:
· Be a registered fleet operator with depots in the UK (for at least one year).
· Own, lease or order at lease one battery electric van/HGV as part of your fleet.
· Have sufficient grid capacity at your site(s) by 31st March 2026.
· Complete all work by 31st March 2026.
The scheme supports a single application per organisation, but multiple sites can be included. Applicants must not have already begun infrastructure installation before applying.
This initiative provides organisations with a significant opportunity to invest in electric vehicle infrastructure, supporting the reduction of operational emissions and enhancing long-term business resilience.
