RedPrairie Corporation, a productivity software provider, has sponsored a team in The Bucks New University Apprentice Challenge, which is taking place during the University’s Enterprise Festival (9th-27th November). Twelve teams will compete to make the biggest profit over three challenges. The draw to match sponsors with their teams was held at a launch event at the Marlow Crowne Plaza.
Martin Hiscox, Vice Chairman of the Board, Managing Director and President International, RedPrairie, attended the launch, where he was delighted to take on a mentor role, offering advice and support to his team. He commented, “The Apprentice Challenge is a great way to identify future business leaders and for RedPrairie to support new talent. It’s been a pleasure to meet the team, hear their ideas and offer a little advice. Well done to the university for providing a way for students to take their ideas from the classroom into the real world.”
The teams in the Apprentice Challenge will have their business planning, marketing, time management, pitching, negotiation and selling skills tested over three challenges, which will include a competition to see who can make the highest profit selling doughnuts, running a market stall, and putting on an event at the student union.
Susan Jones, Director of Enterprise, Buckinghamshire New University, said, “It’s great to have RedPrairie on board with the challenge. We ran a very successful event last year and Bucks New University has become known for holding one of the best enterprise programmes in the country.”
