UKWA is seeking volunteers to serve on its Operations and Safety Committee.
The role of the Operations and Safety Committee is to examine the physical aspects of warehousing and to adivse the UKWA Board of any matters affecting the Association and its members.
The Committee's terms of reference embrace warehouse operations, health & safety, environmental policy, including food hygiene and employment legislation and the Committee is regularly invited by various Government departments to respond to consultative documents on behalf of the membership.
Stephen Basey-Fisher, Chairman of the Operations and Safety Committee, says:
"With health, safety and welfare affecting every member, the Committee is often asked by the Health and Safety Executive and Government to comment on new legislation. This is an important role for the Committee and provides a voice for the logistics industry. In the future this may be an area that could be developed to provide more effective political lobbying.
"As UKWA's membership now consists of retailers, manufacturers, wholesesalers and other logistics support services as well as third party logistics operators, the Committee would welcome any interested members wo would like to join and play their part in shaping the future of the logistics industry now it is successfully emerging from the recession."
Interested parties should contact Stephen Basey-Fisher by email at: stephen@centurylogistics.co.uk
