KiWi Power, an electricity demand management company, is looking for storage and distribution companies (particularly cold storage), who could earn hundreds of thousands of pounds annually for temporarily curtailing their energy use at peak times. With no out of pocket costs, KiWi can provide solutions that maintain the integrity of the storage process while generating revenues, lowering energy use and reducing your carbon footprint.

The National Grid faces large peaks in electricity demand (approximately 100 hours a year), pushing the UK to its supply limits. Peaking power plants are brought online to meet this increased demand. Due to the costly and polluting nature of these plants, KiWi provides the National Grid an efficient alternative to help reduce stress on the grid.

KiWi’s network of clients across the UK is compensated for reducing non-essential electricity demand during peak times. By temporarily reducing energy consumption, such as lighting, refrigeration, air conditioning and cooling, or activating a backup generator, KiWi Power can pay its clients £100,000 or more per year. The technical term for this program is Demand Response (DR). The UK National Grid pays KiWi Power for this service – payments which KiWi pass on to their clients. Companies that participate in Triad management are ideal candidates for enrolling in DR.

KiWi’s clients range from manufacturing facilities, commercial buildings, supermarkets, mines and even airports. KiWi assesses the potential for energy reduction with the client and creates tailored strategies to minimise power consumption at peak times and deliver annual payments to clients by managing their non-critical power. KiWi pays for all metering and control equipment so installation is at no cost to the client.
