DB Schenker Logistics has opened up its own business in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Previously, customers had relied on the service of a partner, but all business is now handled by a new local office in Reykjavik.

The company say that the new business will primarily focus on general air and ocean freight activities.

Schenker North AB CEO and responsible for the business in Iceland as regional director Europe North Ingvar Nilsson says that the company intends to play a leading role in global Reefer Logistics with a focus on the seafood industry in the North Atlantic Ocean.

The new Iceland subsidiary is now representing the global DB Schenker network with 2,000 locations in more than 130 countries.
