Ceva has seen profits rise 17 per cent in the first nine months of 2011 in the wake of a strong performance by the contract logistics business. Pre-tax profits rose to £205m from £175m in 2010. Meanwhile, Maersk has reported a 78 per cent fall in profit to $371m (£231m) in the third quarter despite a nine per cent rise in sales. It said both container and tanker activities faced difficult markets owing to excess supply of tonnage and a fragmented competitive landscape. ON a more positive note, sales at Norbert Dentressangle rose 24.9 per cent to 2.6bn euros (£2.26bn) in  the first nine months of 2011, the company reports.
