About MAN

Based in Munich, Germany, the MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Group can trace its origins back to 1758, with the founding of St Anthony´s Ironworks in Oberhausen. The company branched-out into many industries throughout the years, including locomotion and propulsion, investing heavily in new technology. In 1893, MAN engineers aided Rudolph Diesel in producing the world´s first diesel engine, however, it wasn´t until after the war that MAN started to focus more attention on commercial vehicles. Today, MAN Group is one of the leading international providers of commercial vehicles and transport solutions. In fiscal year 2006 the company, with some 36,000 employees, generated a turnover of € 8.7 billion with sales of just under 80,000 trucks and over 7,300 buses and bus chassis.

The current MAN Trucknology Generation range, which features MAN’s environmentally sensitive Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) engines, covers virtually every road transport application from lightweight 7.5 tonne rigid vehicles up to maximum weight articulated vehicles. The range is well-established across a wide range of operations, from Fire Appliances to Heavy Haulage and in most major Parcel Delivery, Supermarket and Fuel distribution fleets.  The company is currently engaged in the on-schedule delivery of over 7,000 MAN trucks for the British Armed Forces – the biggest single truck order placed in Europe in the past 25 years.
