About WTC

The Warehouse Technology Group (WTG) has created a multi-purpose logistics facility, known as the Logistics Research and Innovation Centre (LRIC).  Situated in North Manchester, it was built by WTG in collaboration with several companies involved in the manufacture and supply of specialist equipment to the warehousing and logistics industry.   Leading WTG, Phil Culling (Chairman of Redirack), says "The project started over 12 months ago and the support from all partners has been fantastic.” As a group they share a common vision in what the centre can offer both to potential customers, and to promote logistics as a career of first choice to young people by giving them the experience of working in it. The LRIC is a fully functioning warehouse, and showcases the latest equipment from WTG partners.  These include computer management systems, pallet racking, mezzanine floors, fire protection sprinklers, and telescopic boom conveyors.

Programme

Following the success of the group’s May event, WTG is delighted to confirm that its next showcase will take place on 19th of October. Key note speakers are attending to give delegates valuable insights into new technology and working practices.

Ian Hancock, a vastly experienced Health and Safety expert will share his experiences of working in some of the country’s leading logistics and distribution companies. He will show how reducing the likelihood of accidents in the supply chain is both morally and economically important.  Lance Pearson will demonstrate how Utility Watch saves companies in the warehousing industry thousands of pounds per month on energy bills. He will explain how you can both better source energy and reduce energy consumption.

With the Warehouse Technology group now numbering over 20 partners delegates will be able to view and experience a wide range of products relevant to the latest distribution warehouses. Supporting the working exhibits is an extensive seminar programme and each partner will have technical staff on site during the two days to explain the detailed workings of their products.

Partnering with the WTG at this event is forklift truck supplier Barloworld. They will have a fleet of their latest general purpose forklift trucks and specialist materials handling equipment. Visitors will be able to see these machines working in a real world situation, and discuss with the company’s staff how they are maximising the efficiency of their customer’s flt fleets.
