Rob Riddleston, Head of Transport & Logistics, Barclays Corporate, will present an update on the way corporate banks can assist road freight leaders in dealing with increasing fuel prices and the problems caused by the recession.

  • The key topics that will be addressed in this meeting are:

  • An overview of the current economic climate, with a medium term view of the economy for the next 1-3 years

  • The way banks are supporting road freight operators, and how both sides can work together in the current environment

  • The actions road freight leaders can take to better manage their finances

  • What is the optimum capital structure of a road freight business in respect of short/medium/long term financing?

Following the lively discussion and debate with senior Traffic Commissioner, Philip Brown at the launch meeting in March, please come and share your views and see if the new coalition government has given the economy the confidence it needs to recover. The Business Secretary Vince Cable, speaking at the Logistics Leaders Annual Lunch on 21st May, made it very clear that it would be the private sector that will deliver the economic growth required to reduce the huge budget deficit.

The Road Freight Leaders Forum has been created specifically to support medium-sized fleet operators by providing them with the opportunity to:

Meet and discuss key issues that influence your everyday operations

Network over lunch with a number of leading services suppliers who can help you reduce your costs

Meet and exchange views with other road freight operators facing the same pressures on operating costs, impact of legislation, finding good quality people and dealing with customer issues

The Road Freight Leaders Forum will be operated under the Chatham House Rule where confidentiality of the discussion remains within the meeting.  This is vital to enable frank and open discussion.  The meetings are also entirely FREE TO ATTEND, giving you a unique opportunity to invest a small amount of time to provide the maximum return.

The Road Freight Leaders Forum is supported by a number of leading suppliers of specialist cost effective solutions:

In addition, all members of the Road Freight Leaders Forum will be able to use the Logistics Leaders Website being launched soon to communicate with the other 900 members of the network, who are made up of Supply Chain Professionals from Retailers and Manufacturers, 3pls, Logistics Consultants and Warehouse Owners and Managers.

This next meeting follows on from the successful launch meeting that took place on 13 April 2010 at The NEC on the first day of the CV Operators Show.

The Road Freight Leaders Forum is being supported by a small ‘virtual’ executive of the new generation of owner/managers to make sure that topics and speakers are of the highest calibre and meet your operational needs. So far we have Xavier Archbold of Archbold Logistics, Peter Whitehead of Whitehead Logistics and Peter Masters of Mini Clipper on the executive board. If you feel you have a contribution to make to this new forum, please let us know.

If you would like to attend the forthcoming Road Freight Leaders Forum on 14 July, please complete and return the enclosed booking form to secure your place. Send to Gyros Communications by post or email to support@gyrosgroup.com. If you have any queries please contact Jane Cochrane on 01737 457002.

We look forward to welcoming you to this meeting and to participating in what promises once again to be the start of a major initiative to support medium-sized operators through stimulating discussion and debate.

Yours sincerely
