Customs & Tax Warehousing
This Group – formerly known as the Bonded Group – was set up in 1982 when the then National Association of Warehouse Keepers (NAWK) merged with the British Port Warehouse Keepers Committee to continue representation of those members that operated Bonded Warehouses and to represent the views of members to government departments – in this case HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC)
The Group aims to meet twice a year or as appropriate and all members that operate Tax (excise) and Customs warehouses are invited to attend, with guests. There is usually a guest speaker from HMRC Headquarters present to brief members on current proposals and changes in the regulations affecting the running and requirements of members’ premises.
Consultation with HMRC is on a formal basis and the Association is represented on The Joint Customs Consultative Committee and The Joint Alcohol and Tobacco Consultation Group
Negotiations are currently underway for a memorandum of understanding between the Association and HMRC as part of the fight against alcohol fraud.
The Customs and Tax Warehousing Group is very active in the affairs of the Association and continues to provide a forum for its members to discuss matters of mutual concern in the Customs and Excise field.
